Export a GIF from an MP4 without uploading

Open the clip in Yougni Video Editor, mark a short range, and export GIF. Encoding runs in the tab. We cap length and size so the browser stays usable.

From MP4 to GIF

Keep the range short. GIFs get large fast; the cap exists on purpose.

  1. 1.

    Load the MP4 locally

Same 3-minute / 200 MB limit as other editor exports. The file is not uploaded.

  2. 2.

    Mark a short in/out

Aim under 20 seconds. Lower fps if you only need a loop for chat or a ticket.

  3. 3.

    Export GIF

Long side 480px, fps capped at 12, max 20 seconds. Download when the encoder finishes.

What the GIF export is for

A preview loop — not a replacement for posting the MP4.

  • Stays on the device

Useful for internal reviews and bug reports you do not want on a host.

  • Hard caps

480px long side, 12 fps, 20 seconds. Longer jobs freeze the tab, so we stop them.

  • Trim first

Do not GIF the whole clip. Cut to the gesture or UI moment.

  • Need quality?

Export MP4 or WebM instead. GIF is for sharing a motion still.

MP4 to GIF FAQ

Limits and browsers.

Why is the GIF small and short?

Uncapped GIF encoding in the browser locks the tab. The cap is the product, not a teaser.

Does this use credits?

No. GIF export is part of the local editor.

Chrome vs Safari?

Both can export GIF. Video container for full exports still depends on the browser.

When not to use GIF

If you need audio, sharp text, or anything longer than a beat, export video. Use GIF only when a silent loop is the deliverable.
